WINNIPEG CHURCH OF GOD

Introduction

The Winnipeg Church of God bases its beliefs on the Holy Bible, the inspired Word of God.

Scripture says that we must “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18). Within that biblical mandate, the Ministers and Elders of the Winnipeg Church of God, led by the Holy Spirit, have the responsibility to edify its members to help facilitate the work of the Holy Spirit.

  • We are a Sabbath keeping church, we believe that God rested on the seventh day and pronounced it holy (Genesis 2:2, Exodus 20:8-11)
  • We are a like-minded group of brethren that God is bringing together to hear and preach the Good News.
  • We believe that the Great Commandment (Mt 22), as amplified by the Ten Commandments (Ex. 20), reveals God’s character and purposes to us and is a guide for all that we do.
  • At baptism, the Christian enters the “new covenant” with God (Matthew 26:28). That new covenant does not do away with the law of God.
  • Faith is vital for salvation, being one of the foundational doctrines of the Bible (Hebrews 6:1)
  • We believe that God’s Church should be a place of peace, mutual respect, rest, and safety (Col 3:15).
  • All the brethren have a part in the work, and labor together.
  • All we do is to the glory and honor of God.
  • God’s annual Festivals are listed in Leviticus 23 and in Deuteronomy 16. These God-given holy days were commanded to be observed “forever” (Leviticus 23:4, 21, 31, 41)

What does Independent Church mean?  What do we mean when we say ‘Independent Church of God’?

To be independent means:

  •  Not being part of a larger controlling unit
  •  Not being committed to a political governing system of religious hierarchy
  • Being a self governing local Church which is also joined with other self governing churches across the country.  These Churches are united by our love for our creator God and a desire to follow His will according to His written instructions in the Bible.
  • It is evident from the scriptures, and the example we see in the first century, that God’s church was not structured as a corporate body.

To summarize: an independent church is one that is not committed to any physical organization, but one that is solely committed to the spiritual organism of our Creator.

  1. Hi
I notice that there has not been any activity on your website for sometime. Is there anywhere I can access more recent sermons from Church of God Winnipeg?

    Kindest regards
    John Morton

    1. Hi John,
Covid has really impacted our ability to meet lately so we’ve been doing Bible studies via Google Meet. We are currently in the process of securing a new space in the new year and intend to commence meeting upon successful acquisition of said space.
If you care to leave your email, we can contact you if you are interested, or if you ever want to join our online meetings in the mean time. Please let us know.
